THE OIL OF ST. PHILOMENA
THE ROSARY IN HONOR OF ST. PHILOMENA
How did this devotion come about? It happened very simply like this: On the octave of the translatiori of the Reliquary of Saint Philomena to Mugnano, a women from Avella, full of faith in God, dipped a finger into the oil of the lamp which burned in front of the altar of the Saint, and anointed the eyelids her blind child with it. The child immediately received sight, to the astonishment of all present.
ROSARY IN HONOR OF ST. PHILOMENA
This devotion, owed to the Holy Curè of Ars,
consists in reciting a Creed, three Our
Fathers (the white beads) in honor of the Blessed Trinity, and
thirteen Hail Marys with the invocation:
Saint Philomena, pray for us. The thirteen Hail Marys remind us of the
age of our Little Saint.
This is a variationof the Chaplet of St. Philomena and uses the same set of Beads, which can be purchased HERE. Just click on Devotions . . .
