The Virgin Mary was seen for two hours during a time of poor harvests and hunger. During this time she uttered not a single word. Six weeks later the local ecclestiastical authorities declared her appearance a supernatural event. To this day pilgrims in the thousands flock to the local parish church in Knock to pray at the sight where she appeared, by the church wall at about 8 PM in the evening.
