This image appeared in
our
September, 2005 gallery: it was taken from a Christmas card sent by a
friend many years ago and which is cherished still. Murillo is one of
Catholic Tradition's favorite painters. He was a very pious Catholic
and almost all of his works are of religious figures; the others are of
children and or the poor, and these, too, bear on his Catholicity.
Bartolome Esteban Murillo is best known for painting the Madonna in her
Immaculate Conception and Christ in His Passion. This image is in the
Pitti Palace Gallery, Florence.
