The Visitation MARIOTTO ALBERTINELLI 1503

This painting was commissioned for the Church of the Congregation of San Martino, but since 1517, it has been called the Church of the Visitation to St. Elizabeth. We decided to leave it large so you could view the detail in the faces, which are quite pale, and in the columns flanking the figures. Again one cannot miss the sweetness of the scene, the primary characteristic of the artist.
