This image appeared in our September, 2005 gallery. The artist was a follower of Leonardo Da Vinci and belonged to the Renaissance period of painting. Besides his exquisite Madonnas, he is best known for his Milanese frescos. The Renaissance, a return of "the classical" in art and music, which originated in 14th century Italy, lasted until the 16th century.
