MARY'S HOUSE VIEW 2

Above [exterior] and below [interior]: The house at Meryem Ana in Ephesus [modern Efes, Turkey] was venerated early on as Mary's house. Taken in by John, Mary spent her last years here.

At Ephesus in 431 the dogma of Mary's Divine motherhood [Theotokos] was proclaimed. In 1833 the German mystic Catherine Emmerich had a vision, written down by Clemens Brentano, the well known Romantic poet [who returned to the Catholic Church he had left and who wrote several hymns in praise of Our Lady], in which she gave a precise description of the house. In 1891 the foundations from the 1st century that exactly matched her description were found as described in our presentation.
